WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE STAND FOR

What’s in a Name?

Our horses are not wild, but they are not of broken spirit either. Our name Wild Spirit Horses represents our training philosophy which respects the personalities of each individual horse in our care and ensures they have a voice and that their unique individual spirit shines through.

Some of our horses have been rescued from abusive and/or neglectful situations, where they had their spirit broken in their previous life. We don’t believe in breaking-in horses, we focus on building their confidence and trust instead. By showing love, kindness, and lending an ear willing to listen to the horse’s point of view, we gain their trust, and their innate wild spirit is restored. And it truly is an amazing transformation to behold. Horses that were initially angry, aggressive, spooky, wary, or shut down when they came to us are now calm, relaxed, and easy-going; yet each horse still retains their unique individual personality.

Our Mission

Our mission is to not only heal your soul but to heal the soul of the horses.

We aim to develop a mindful relationship between human and horse to form a solid partnership that is based on mutual trust and respect. We do this by helping you better understand how a horse feels… thinks… how a horse puts things together. We show you from the ground up how to understand and interact with your equine partner and how to read subtle signals and cues as they try and communicate with us.

We need to learn how to slow down and listen to what the horses have to say. We believe this is the missing link in human-equine communication.

These same principles can be applied to improve our relationships with our fellow humans. Horses are wonderful teachers, and you will be amazed at how much these simple interactions will bring you a feeling of inner peace and contribute to your own personal growth and development.

Compassion — We believe that all living creatures should be treated with empathy and kindness, and should never be exposed to any form of physical, mental or emotional abuse. The welfare of our equine partners is our top priority and we will always consider their needs first.
Respect — We strive to build healthy relationships based on trust and respect. We believe that trust is earned, and a healthy partnership is formed, when there is mutual respect. We respect our environment, our participants, and our horses, and we strive to earn the respect of our horses and our fellow humans too.
Communication — Effective communication is the essence of what we do. Whether we are working with horses or people, we strive to achieve our goals through effective two-way communication and positive encouragement.
Flexibility — We acknowledge that every horse and every human that partakes in our equine encounters program is an individual with their own unique personalities, quirks, and in the case of humans, their own personal development goals. Our approach is flexible and considers the individual needs of horses and humans, as well as the aspirations of the participants we are working with.
Gratitude & Humility — We are extremely grateful for having these wonderful horses in our lives and for the opportunity of sharing this blessing with others. We operate with humility and have no expectations from our horses or our participants, other than to just be mindfully present and enjoy the moment.
